| 2008-02-15 13:56:18 - #65 Allison's AE Mistake of the Week - #2 AE Mistake of the Week: Not going to class So, for those who aren't counting, it's week 5 of 14. If you have decided that that class isn't worth your time, well first, you may be a bit hasty with making that call. The professor could completely flip the script come week 7, and by the time you realize that things have changed you may be irreconcilably behind. On the other hand, maybe the professor isn't adding value to the course -- and never will. In this case, you must accept that your class attendance is not really for you, but instead for the professor. It is crucial that the professor believe that you are very interested in his class -- regardless of the reality. Why? Because when the end of the semester rolls around, and grading turns out to be less rigid than the syllabus would have you believe, you're gonna want to be on the top of that fuzzy A-/B+ border (or that even scarier B-/C+ border), and you're gonna need the professor's favor. If he hasn't seen you in class since week three...doesn't look good. |
